Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) are alternatives to inpatient and residential treatment for those who do not require medical detoxification or 24-hour supervision. They are designed to establish psychosocial supports and facilitate relapse management and coping strategies.
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) provides services 9-19 hours per week including assessments, treatment planning, individual and family counseling, cognitive behavioral focused groups, addiction education, coping and problem-solving life skills, recovery management, and relapse prevention.
Outpatient treatment supports the consistent pursuit of abstinence, addressing impairment in behavioral control, dealing with cravings, recognizing problems in one’s behaviors and interpersonal relationships, and dealing more effectively with emotional responses.
Treatment is guided by an individualized Person-Centered Treatment Plan which is completed after admission.
Regular individual and family counseling sessions are designed to address behavioral, mental health, social, educational, developmental, life skills, and psychological functioning. Counseling is provided by licensed and certified practitioners in accordance with state law.
Group therapies vary in focus and are designed to address individual motivation for change, developing incentives for abstinence, skill building, negative behavior and thought replacement, improved problem-solving, positive relationships, and enhanced relapse prevention skills.
Clients are also encouraged to participate in community-based recovery events, self-help meetings, and other positive social activities to establish autonomous stabilization.
