Description

If you, a family member or loved one recently got a DUI for the first time, here’s how Point 21 Recovery can help.

A “first offender” program may, depending on the severity of the offence and with the court’s later approval offer a way for a defendant to avoid the full effects of a criminal prosecution. It can, in certain circumstances, offer a way for obtaining a reduced, deferred or dismissal of sentencing or charges for those who have no previous criminal record, or at least no felony convictions.

Educational goals for this program include increasing individual understandings of addiction and personal use patterns, knowledge of relapse and recidivism, restructuring cognitive and behavioral patterns, and creating a personal plan to recovery support and identify personal risks associated with substance use relapse.

Patients are also provided resources for community-based recovery programs and self-help meetings for continued support.  Upon successfully completion, verification is sent to the participants referral source.
